Harrington Police Department telling their side of the story on what happened at the Harrington Casino late Saturday night. According to a press release, while on patrol, units responded to the Casino to assist State Police with a fight. Officers were talking with a suspect, Jermaine Newcomb, who they say became unruly when police tried to detain him.

Police say a struggle ensued, and a K9 unit assisted taking Newcomb into custody. The man was treated on the scene for a dog bite to his lower leg and declined to be taken to the hospital.  Newcomb was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and released pending a future court hearing. Harrington Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Many are accusing police of using excessive force after a video posted to social media over the weekend showed an officer punching Newcomb in the face while the K-9 unit was biting his legs.
