The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds drivers to anticipate heavier than normal traffic on Delaware’s highways and allow extra time to reach your destination beginning on Friday, May 27.
Planned lane closures on Delaware’s major highways will be suspended beginning at noon on Friday, May 27 until midnight on Monday, May 30. Traffic accidents and other unpredictable types of transportation incidents may cause lane closures and/or delays.
DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) and WTMC-1380 AM provides motorists real-time traffic conditions throughout the state. Motorists can contact the TMC 24/7 to report any travel or traffic related issues at the following numbers: Dial #77 from any cell phone; (302) 659-4600; or 1-800-324-8379.
Motorists may adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT’s Smartphone application. The DelDOT App is available for Apple & Android smart phones and tablets, and can be downloaded free, search for “DelDOT” at the Apple and Google Play stores. With the DelDOT App you can view real time traffic cameras, travel times, delays, advisories, DART bus stops, and also listen to WTMC 1380 AM.

Motorists looking for a break can visit the I-95 Welcome Center or the Smyrna Rest Area, SR 1, Exit 119.
DART’s Resort Transit seasonal bus service begins on Thursday, May 26. DART operates seven transit routes in the resort area serving Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, Fenwick, Lewes, Georgetown, Long Neck, and Ocean City, Maryland. Bus service operates from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m., seven days a week throughSunday, September 11. Weekend bus service will continue along the SR 1 corridor through the end of September.
In addition, DART Route 305-Beach Connection service operates on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays starting on Friday, May 27 through Labor Day. Route 305 serves Amtrak Station in Wilmington; Christiana Mall Park & Ride; new stop in the Middletown area at Odessa Park & Ride; Scarborough Road; Park & Ride in Dover; and Rehoboth Park & Ride.
DART is coordinating with the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA) and their Cape May-Lewes Ferry Shuttle Service to connect at the Rehoboth Park & Ride. This collaboration will allow ferry passengers to enjoy the same DART bus travel options around the resort areas.
