Lewes Man Arrested For Leaving Scene, Resisting Arrest


A Lewes man was arrested after he crashed his car into a pole and then ran from the scene. 59-year-old Dale Thaxton was driving on Camp Arrowhead Road around 3 p.m. yesterday when he drove off the road and hit a utility pole. He caused serious damage to the car, but was still able to drive away from the scene. State Police tried to pull Thaxton over, but he drove right at the trooper, who was able to avoid being hit. Thaxton drove into Angola Neck Park and parked his car in his driveway in the 22000 block of Cypress Drive. Thaxton avoided being arrested and went into his house, but was eventually tased by the trooper. He was charged with his third DUI, and a slew of driving infraction and is being held on $13,353 bond.
