Local Chicken Growers Honored

Two local chicken farmers were honored for their work with Allen Harim. Dale Philips, of Georgetown, and Chittle Saylor, of Preston, were given the Outstanding Growers Award by the Delmarva Poultry Industry on Tuesday at their annual banquet in Salisbury. Phillips is a third generation chicken farmer who operates two chicken houses and care for up to 60,000 birds at one time. Saylor has now won the award twice, winning for the first time in 2011. He raises up to 63,000 birds in three houses in Maryland.
