Local environmental organizations are protesting a new offshore drilling plan proposed by the Truymp Administration. The Bureau of Energy Management is holding a public hearing in Dover this afternoon to gauge public support and opposition to proposed oil and gas exploration in federal waters off the coast of the Atlantic.

MERR Institute, Delaware’s chapters of the Sierra Club and Surfrider Foundations, the Assateague Coastal Trust and more organizations are all opposed to the potential change, saying that are “fighting for the protection of our coastline, the environment, the coastal economy, and a clean energy future.” The public hearing is taking place this afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Dover.
