A Magnolia man was arrested Thursday in connection with two arson fires over the last three months. 58-year-old Francis Barbier took police on a quick chase through Meadowbrook Acres before being caught. He was charged with two counts of arson and burglary for the fires he allegedly set. The first fire happened on December 16 in the 100 block of Terry Drive when he set on fire combustible materials that sparked a parked car. The second happened Wednesday on the same street when he set a house on fire and then called police to report it. Barbier is being held on $50,000 bond.
