A Rehoboth man was arrested Saturday night after he assaulted an acquaintance at a birthday party in Salisbury.

Witnesses told Salisbury Police that 39 year-old Daniel Barnes became enraged when a friend asked for his car keys because he believed Barnes was too drunk to drive.  Barnes reportedly hit the man in the mouth and kicked him in the kidneys before dragging him across the yard and banging his head into a retaining wall.  The victim was treated for cuts and bruises at a local hospital.

Barnes was arrested for second-degree assault and later released on $10,000 bond.  He has a court date in January.
