UPDATED: Man Found Dead In Wooded Area In Lewes


UPDATED – Monday, 8-21 – On Friday, Lewes Police began a missing person investigation for a 55 year old Lewes man who walked away from his home around 7am and didn’t return. On Sunday police began terrain searches in the wooded areas near New Road and Park Drive. The body of a man was found in a wooded area just south of the Lewes Dog Park. The body has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science for autopsy and cause of death. Foul play is not suspected. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.


The body of an adult male was discovered in the wooded area on the outskirts of Lewes around 9:30 a.m. Sunday near New Road and Samantha Drive. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science is investigating. Lewes police Chief Thomas Spell says he expects to release a statement Monday morning concerning this investigation. But this is all he would confirm as of Sunday evening.
