MD Bill To Monitor Opioid Prescriptions Passes

A Maryland Governor Larry Hogan proposed bill passed unanimously in the General Assembly to require health care providers to follow guidelines when prescribing opioids. The new law limits the amount of opioids prescribed to the lowest effective dose and an amount no more than what is needed. A violation of this new law is grounds for disciplinary action by the health occupations board.
