UPDATED: Funeral Arrangements Announced; MD Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Del. Michael Busch

UPDATED 4/9/19 –  The family of House Speaker Michael E. Busch today announced the details for the services next week.

Speaker Michael Erin Busch will lie in state in the rotunda of the Maryland State House on Monday, April 15, 2019 and Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Public visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday and from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday.

A Maryland State Police procession will escort Speaker Busch from the John F. Taylor Funeral Home to the Maryland State House, where he will process through members of the Maryland General Assembly in to the State House.

On Tuesday, the Maryland State Police will escort Speaker Busch from the Maryland State House to St. John Neuman Church, located at 620 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401, for a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Deacon Leroy Moore will officiate.

A reception honoring Speaker Busch will follow the service on Tuesday from 1:00pm to 4:30pm at the Atkinson Tower at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, located at 550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Annapolis High School, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and St. Mary’s High School. The Michael E. Busch Memorial Fund will be used to establish scholarships in his name.

There will be shuttles available from the Gold Parking Lot of Navy-Marine Corps Stadium.

This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Delegate Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, who died Sunday, April 7, 2019. Speaker Busch represented Legislative District 30.
