Milford Man Charged With 4th DUI Offense

Milford Police say they have arrested 34-year-old Juan Cortez-Reyes of Milford for his 4th offense of driving under the influence.

On Saturday, officers received a call from a concerned citizen about a potentially impaired driver. An officer from the Patrol Division located the vehicle on North Walnut Street. An officer from the Patrol Division activated all emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver initially failed to do so. After following the vehicle for a short distance, the stop was conducted on Bright Way in the Brightway Commons Apartment Complex.

The driver, Mr. Cortez-Reyes failed a field sobriety test, leading him to be taken into custody. An investigation discovered he had three previous offenses of DUI. Cortez-Reyes was charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence and Driving Without a Valid License.

He was presented before the Justice of the Peace Court where his bail was set at 3,100 dollars. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 8.
