Milton Area Fire Leaves One Dead

One person is dead and two were injured when fire broke out just before 10 Sunday morning on Prime Hook Road east of Milton. Firefighters arriving at the scene found heavy smoke and flames shooting out of the two story home. Two residents – a 10 year old boy and 39 year old woman jumped from a second floor bedroom – they were treated at Milford Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation and bruises and released. One person was found dead inside the house – they were taken to the Division of Forensic Science – an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. State fire investigators are investigating the origin and cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
