WGMD has learned more about a house fire in Bridgeville over the weekend.

Authorities say that dozens of snakes were recovered from the home on Walnut Street. There were 47 snakes, with 45 of them surviving. Officials say they haven’t yet determined what caused the blaze which broke out Sunday afternoon , but that the home belonged to Anthony Rodgers, a professional snake breeder.

The snakes are usually housed at a facility in Preston, but were at the home while renovations are underway. Rodgers and his family were visiting the Salisbury Zoo at the time of the fire.
