New tax scam gives you money, then takes it away

It’s almost tax season, and that means thieves are trying to get your tax return.

Delaware Division of Revenue warning taxpayers about a new, unique, and growing tax scam. Apparently scammers are filing fraudulent tax returns, but directing the money into the real taxpayer’s bank account. Then, the crooks call you, say they’re with the IRS and an error has occurred. They direct you to turn over the money that was deposited in your account.
