Record breaking catfish reeled in from Nanticoke River

A new record setting 36-pound catfish was pulled from the Nanticoke River in Seaford. Yesterday, DNREC’s Division of Fish and Wildlife confirmed the haul by Jordan Chelton of Harrington, who reeled in the 3-foot long fish in June. Chelton hooked it with a chunk of bunker; the fish took the bait around 9:30 PM and Chelton landed it about a half hour later. The previous state record was a measly 25-pound catfish also caught from the Nanticoke in April.
