Rehoboth businesses are going to have to start going private for their trash pickup. That’s because the Rehoboth Beach Commissioners voted this weekend to stop commercial trash and recycle collection. The city has been losing money on commercial trash pickup and doesn’t have enough staff or equipment to keep up with the mandated recycling regulation. The cut takes effect January 1, 2018. You can still keep your city service through the end of the year for a fee. If you plan to go with a private company before the next billing cycle, you’ll have to give the city a copy of the new agreement so you can discontinue service and not have to pay for the six months between July and December.
