UPDATE – A Celebration of Life for Cheryl will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, Wednesday, December 21, beginning at 1pm.
Mother Nature rained on her last parade when the Rehoboth Beach Christmas Parade was cancelled Tuesday because of weather, but Cheyl Blackman was likely smiling to the end, which according to the Cape Gazette came early this morning when she died after a long battle with cancer. The Rehoboth Beach community was her life and she was always found on the Boardwalk selling raffle tickets for KINfolk or helping to raise money for Delaware Hospice. She went into hospice care during the summer after doctors found the cancer had spread to her abdomen. The town held a parade held in her honor last summer. Family members say a celebration of her life will be held – details are still being finalized. Cheryl Blackman was 53.
