UPDATE 5/18 -Maryland State Police report a second victim involved in the Anne Arundel County fatal crash Wednesday has succumbed to injuries after being hit head-on while traveling Route 50 yesterday.
The second victim is Robert Skidmore, 66, of Cape St. Clair, Maryland. According to police he was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel at Shock Trauma.
UPDATED – 6pm – All three travel lanes of eastbound Route 50 have reopened to traffic.
The investigation is continuing, but a crash on Route 50 near Annapolis has claimed the life of a Salisbury woman. Maryland State Police say just before 1:30, 22 year old Laura Murphy was driving a black VW SUV heading westbound in the eastbound lane near the intersection with Route 2. A passenger in Murphy’s vehicle – a 14-month old boy was flown by medevac to Johns Hopkins. The driver of the other vehicle that was struck head-on – a Mercedes SUV – has not been identified pending notification of next of kin – he was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. A third vehicle involved in the crash was driven by a Bowie man – he was not injured.
Eastbound Rt 50 is now moving in 2 lanes while police continue to investigate. Westbound traffic has been re-opened.
