Salisbury Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Sex Offenses

A 34 year old Salisbury man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for sex offenses. Byron Simpson was sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor and 1 count of 2nd degree rape. He must also register for life as a Tier III sex offender – he was already a Tier I offender after a 2004 sex offense conviction. A Wicomico County jury found Simpson guilty last December in the rape of a 13 year old female he is related to. His 45 year sentence will be served consecutive to a 3 year sentence that Simpson is serving for an assault conviction.
