Scheduled Delaware Memorial Bridge Closure Tuesday Night/Wednesday AM

If you’re planning to travel over the Delaware Memorial Bridge in the early morning hours on Wednesday – the bridge will be closed to traffic twice so that a ship, the Zhen Hua 25, transporting two new ship-to-shore cranes to Philadelphia can pass under the bridge – and not distract drivers. DRBA officials expect the first closure to last about 30 minutes – and occur between 11:45pm Tuesday and 12:15am. Because of the size of the cranes, the vessel must travel under the spans during low tide.
On Tuesday, April 2, the Zhen Hua 25 will return down river and the Delaware Memorial Bridge will close again as a third ship-to-shore crane bound for Wilmington, NC will pass under the bridge – at approximately 5:15am.
