UPDATED: Teen Bicyclist Dies from Injuries After Struck by Vehicle near Bridgeville

UPDATED 12/8/18 – A 16 year old injured in a crash Monday evening on Conrail Road near Bridgeville died from his injuries at Christiana Hospital Thursday.  Delaware State Police say Charles Shockley of Bridgeville was on his bicycle in the roadway and walking a dog that was secured to the handlebars.  He was struck by a Grand Cherokee just after 5pm – police say the teen was wearing dark clothes and no helmet or reflective gear.  The 29 year old driver of the Grand Cherokee was properly restrained and not injured.  The dog was not injured and returned home.

A crash Monday evening has left a 16 year old riding a bicycle in serious condition at Christiana Hospital.  Delaware State Police say just after 5:15 a Grand Cherokee was southbound on Conrail Road and failed to see the teen on his bike and walking a dog that was secured to the handlebars in the roadway.  The teen wore dark clothes and no helmet reflective gear – the dog was not injured.  The driver of the Grand Cherokee was properly restrained and not injured.
