One local police Chief had been indicted by a grand jury and is being charged with misconduct in office. The allegations were announced against Trappe Maryland’s Chief of Police George Ball on Tuesday. The charges stem from two incidents where Ball allegedly abused his office for the benefit of a personal acquaintance.
In the first incident Ball seized a handgun reportedly stolen, but never logged it as evidence, instead keeping it to help a female associate of his. Then prosecutors say Ball never followed up a legitimate investigation into stolen jewelry, again to help out this female acquaintance of his. Ball was the only police officer in Trappe, but was suspended after complaints were brought against him in late June.
