Lower Township Police Department investigated a burglary in which an estimated $20,000 in jewelry was taken from a residence on Bentz Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township September 29.
During the investigation, police learned there was video surveillance which captured the perpetrator breaking into the victim’s home. After viewing the video surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as 34 year-old David Fessler. Shortly after the report was made, Fessler was located and taken into custody. Upon arrest, Fessler was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. During the arrest, he was found to be in possession of cocaine. A search of Fessler’s car was also conducted and turned up 32 bags of heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Officers interviewed Fessler in regards to the Bentz Avenue burglary as well as a separate residential burglary that took place previously in Villas. Fessler confessed to the burglaries and was charged accordingly with burglary and theft.
Fessler was also charged with possession, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $75,000 full cash; in default of bail, Fessler was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center.
