WGMD Fishing Report 11-16-18

I am sort of holding my breath as the gale on Friday is supposed to lay out over the weekend and give us fishable conditions.

At Old Inlet the report was good fishing during outgoing water at night for short rockfish with a few keepers.  Boats working the lights at the Coast Guard Station have had the best luck.  One angler casting from a boat caught a 15.5-inch tog on a speck rig.

Getting back to the Council on Recreational Fishing Funding it looks like there will be new parking lots at Haven Lake and Bowers Beach.  We also learned that a problem has developed at the Massey’s Landing boat ramp and fishing pier.  It seem the concrete is sinking.  Divers inspected the supports and found they were full of holes.  Engineers will now have the task of devising a fix for this problem.

As we have mentioned before, the Phillips Landing project should be complete by March 2019.  The builders have decided to place a large rubber mat at the kayak launching site to make it easier and safer for those folks.
