Another blow day on Friday and the weekend is not looking too good.
The rockfish are still off the New Jersey coast. My son Roger took 50 some high and middle school kids striped fishing out of Belmar, New Jersey and they caught a few stripers in spite of a 20-knot northwest wind.
Thursday night was the semiannual meeting of the Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing Funding in Dover. I am happy to report after some delays due to the hiring freeze the Division of Fish and Wildlife has a new construction manager. Jeremey Ashe has been on the job for a few weeks and has already put some of our delayed projects back on track. The biggest project right now is the reconstruction of the boat ramp at Millsboro Pond. We approved this several years ago, but the permitting process has taken forever. With one more permit to go, we hope the new ramp will be ready sometime in 2018. The new ramps at Phillips Landing are also moving forward. There will be three new ramps and one old ramp that can be used by kayakers.
