Saturday was another fishable day and good numbers of bottomfish were caught.
At Lewes Harbour Marina Julie told us that on Friday Jim McCall caught a 14.5-pound tog while fishing on the Katydid. Captain Brent didn’t slow down on Saturday catching good numbers of tog and sea bass including another citation with Ernie Stone’s 8.75-pound tog. The FOMO had a good mixed bag of tog, sea bass and bluefish. A couple of private boats also got in on the action with sea bass and tog.
Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said at Indian River Inlet tog fishing remains about the same with a few keepers mixed in with lots of shorts. Green crab and sand fleas are still the top baits. Keeper rockfish are still rare with a few more caught at night on eels. During the day small, white, swim shads will take short rock and small blues.
Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em saw lots of tog and sea bass on the cleaning table. Two boats brought in 100 pounds each caught over ocean structure. Other boats had tog, sea bass and blues from the same areas.
