Thursday was another no fishing day. Friday and Sunday look fishable so I hope some folks will get out and find some tog, sea bass or rockfish.
Tog fishermen will do well to check out reef sites ten and 11. The Clammer Wreck just outside Indian River Inlet is another good location. I would avoid any long runs over a cold ocean. Also, by staying close to shore you will be able to try for rockfish if the tog are suffering from close mouth.
Those who wish to target rockfish should start out running towards New Jersey. The Eights, the Valley and Overfalls Shoal could be productive. You will need a New Jersey FIN number if you plan to cross over into their jurisdiction. Unless you plan to fish the Valley by drifting eels I would troll Stretch plugs, MOJOs or spoons. I suspect with the number of spiny dog sharks around, drifting eels will be a bit costly.
Running out to the Del-Jersey-Land Reef should produce some keeper black sea bass. It is a long run in the winter, but if you have a boat that lets you get out of the wind and spray the trip will be worth the effort.
