Friday saw reasonably good weather for December and a few boats did get out.
Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Kattydid was able to run and returned with a good catch of tog.
At Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em the No Limit once again returned with a limit of tog. Two private boats also ran into the ocean. One had ten pounds of sea bass and the other had one tog.
Still no sign of rockfish off of Delaware. In New Jersey they are catching them from the surf on out to the Three-Mile-Limit. The surf caught stripers are, for the most part, too small to keep. Keepers have been caught by trolling plugs, MOJOs and spoons.
To the best of my knowledge the big rockfish are still off of Cape Charles, Virginia. Drifting eels has been the most productive technique for catching these big fish.
I noticed skim ice on Red Mill Pond, but with temperatures expected to rise into the 40s on Saturday that ice will soon be gone. Unfortunately, the wind is going to pick up to 15 to 20 with gusts to 30 also on Saturday.
