Sunday saw fishable weather and several boats went out to the ocean.
Julie at Lewes Harbour Marina told us the Katydid had a good catch of tog over ocean structure. The Port-A-Bella ran down to Ocean City where Jeff Guest caught a 16-pound rockfish on a white MOJO. Another boat went the outer way and fished off of Wildwood, New Jersey where Steve Rogier had a 20.5-pound rock also on a white MOJO.
These reports beg the question, why are the rockfish still off of New Jersey and Maryland, but not off of Delaware? So far this fall every striped bass in my reports, except the one caught off of Rehoboth, have come from New Jersey or Maryland.
Both Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em and Old Inlet Bait and Tackle were closed when I called. Perhaps one of those reporting stations will have a positive report from Delaware waters when I contact them on Monday. The weather for the week promises a couple of fishable days before the Christmas holiday. Let’s hope we see some rockfish action before Santa comes to town.
This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
