Monday saw excellent weather conditions and fish were caught.
Julie at Lewes Harbour Marina checked in several rockfish caught off of New Jersey. Ray Willis and Jim Weber had their limit of four rock with Jim landing a 24 pounder to take big fish honors. They were trolling purple Stretch 30s and white MOJOs. Ralph Short, Jimmy Young and Jim Allen had a limit of six rockfish all caught on white MOJOs. Not to be outdone on the catching was the Grizzly with Captain Carey Evans. His crew brought in a limit of tog to Bob Murphy’s 15.8 white chin. Three other tog weighing 13, 11 and 10.5 pounds were taken by the Grizzly crew, but they did not want citations.
At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle, Clark told me about Stan Brady who caught a 35-inch rockfish out of the surf at daybreak on a plug. Later in the day, another angler had shorts to 22 inches out of the North Pocket.
We are seeing a very few rockfish caught from Delaware waters, but at least there are some around.
