While not many boats went out on Thursday, I think it is safe to say then the rockfish are here.
Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em reported that a few boats did troll off of Bethany Beach and caught a total of six rockfish. Mojos and Stretches have worked best. The No Limit had a catch of tog.
Julie at Lewes Harbour Marina said the only fish they saw all day were spiny dog sharks. These came from the beach. On Wednesday Otto Evans trolled Stretches and MOJOs south of Sea Colony in Bethany Beach and caught two rockfish measuring 35 and 36.5 inches and six more in the slot measuring 39 to 42 inches. Matt Jester also pulled MOJOs and Stretches to catch two rock measuring 34.5 and 33.5 inches. He too fished from Bethany Beach to Fenwick Island.
Jack at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said it was a slow day on the beach and at the Inlet.
Friday may be the last day with decent weather for a while. Of course, with the Christmas season coming to a peak, not many folks would be fishing even if the weather was good.
