WGMD Fishing Report 12-26-17

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, as for me, not so much.  My youngest son, his wife Connie and my two fantastic grandchildren Charlotte and CJ were here from Friday to Sunday.  They not only brought our gifts, but also something my grandfather called the grip.  For those unfamiliar with Sussex County lingo, the grip can be anything from an upset stomach, fever, cough, sneezing, chills, body aches and a headache.  Lucky me, I had it all.

The little kids hardly slowed down, their parents were down and out for 24 hours.  Barbara and I are still suffering.  Ain’t old age great?

As far as fishing, we may be done for the year.  Monday saw winds topping 50 knots with temperatures in the low twenties promised for the rest of the week.

Prior to the cold front, we had pretty good rockfish action along the coast from Bethany Beach to Fenwick Island.  Once the wind settles down I suspect the water temperature inside the Three-Mile-Limit will be too cold for stripers.  In any event, the air temperature will be much too cold for safe fishing.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
