WGMD Fishing Report 12-3-18

Monday saw fishable weather, but only a few folks took advantage of the good conditions.  This is not unusual for December when everyone is busy with the holiday season.

Tommy, at Lewes Harbour Marina, said the only boat out was the Surface Tension with Captain Keith Beebe and he came back with one 30-inch rockfish from the Cape May Rips.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle, the report was a 30-inch rockfish caught on a bunker chunk at Three Rs Road.  A few short rock and tog remain at Indian River Inlet.

Lauren at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us the No Limit had 15 tog in the box.  No other boats sailed from Indian River Marina.

I have mentioned before the run of very big rockfish out of Cape Charles, Virginia in late fall and early winter.  I have already seen a few close to 50 pounds in 2018 and then on Monday came a photo from Chris’ Bait and Tackle of a giant rockfish that was estimated at 75 pounds.  I hope to have the official weight on Tuesday’s report.
