WGMD Fishing Report 12-4-18

It was a tad cold and breezy on Tuesday and with the nearest rockfish well up the New Jersey coast Delaware anglers decided not to make the trip.  The weather on Wednesday looks better so perhaps we will have something to report by then.

The estimated 75-pound rockfish caught out of Cape Charles, Virginia on Monday was just a bit over-estimated.  The actual weight was 50 pounds, 10 ounces.  That is still one heck of a fish.  We thank Chris’ Bait and Tackle for the correct weight.

The Fish Bound out of Ocean City did it again on Monday coming in with a boat limit of tog to 10 pounds.  I have no idea where they are fishing and don’t think they would tell me if I asked, but it certainly is a hot spot or spots.

If you plan to fish the Rips make sure you are prepared for some big standing waves.  When the current is running out and the wind is out of the south or running in with a north wind those seas can be impressive.  Even large boats can be overcome in seconds.
