WGMD Fishing Report 3-21-19

So Wednesday was the first day of Spring, still the weather remained chilly and the wind increased all day.  Thursday will see a storm pass by with high southeast winds and lots of rain before things clean out for the weekend.

Once again the only fishing report I received came from Cape Point on Hatteras Island.  Tuesday night saw another good run of red drum and, if they get the same south wind we are expecting, the drum fishing will be wild.

The water temperature in the ocean and bay is slowly creeping into the mid-forties so those few small rockfish at Indian River Inlet may soon increase in number.  Right now small soft plastic swim shads are doing the job and I suspect that bait will continue to be productive.

We could also see some better tog fishing at the Inlet and perhaps at the Outer Wall as the water temperature increases.  The forecast for the weekend calls for lots of wind so the Outer Wall may not be fishable, but the Inlet should be.
