WGMD Fishing Report 3-23-18

On Thursday the water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy was 47 degrees, up five degrees since Tuesday.  For all the snow and rain, that east wind did some good.  Unfortunately, we are going to have west winds for the next few days and that could drop the water temperature back down.

The Captain’s Lady out of Bowers Beach will conduct their popular Oyster Cracker Tournament again in 2018.  The entry fee is $75 per day with fishing days on June 10, July 8, August 5 and September 9.  The top prize is $2,000.  Second place pays out $1,000 and third goes for $500.  You can call 302-359-6600 for more information.

I know it doesn’t help, but fishing is equally bad to our north and south.  The big head boats out of New Jersey and New York are running 100 miles or more to find a few cod and pollock.  Down south, out of Virginia Beach and North Carolina, it is pretty much a short run to the Gulf Stream where you can play catch and release with bluefin tuna.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
