WGMD Fishing Report 3-3-19

Saturday was the opening day of Delaware trout season and I planned to fish Tidbury Pond in Dover.  My alarm went off at 5:00 AM, I stumbled into the bathroom, looked out the window and saw that it was dark, cold and raining.  Decided I really didn’t love a trout that much, reset the alarm for 7:00 AM and crawled back into those nice warm bedclothes.

When I finally arrived at Tidbury Pond around 9:00 AM I found a parking spot close to the water, but from the cars lined down the access road I could tell it had been very crowded early in the morning.  It was still cold and there was a light mist falling, but at least the sun was up.

Instead of going to all the trouble of rigging up my fishing outfit I just grabbed my camera and decided to scout out the pond.  There were still quite a few folks fishing, but in the 30 or 40 minutes I was there I only saw one fish caught.  I did see some nice stringers in the parking lot indicating a good early morning bite.
