WGMD Fishing Report 3-4-19

Sunday saw some fair weather in the morning with heavy rain later in the day and snow in the northern portion of our coverage area.  My efforts to find any reports of fishing on Sunday were met with unanswered phone calls and zero reports on the internet.

I did see reports from Saturday of freshwater trout caught from both Newton Pond in Greenwood and Tidbury Pond in Dover.

I also saw reports of scattered white and yellow perch taken out of spillways and the upper reaches of the tidal rivers and creeks on both sides of the state.  Live minnows in shad darts or crappie jigs fished very slowly on the bottom and been the most productive baits.

Jerry Taylor at Taylored Tackle in Seaford said crappie had been caught on jigs from the spillways at Seaford and Laurel.

While I have no recent reports, the Lewestown Lady from Fisherman’s Wharf and the Fish Bound out of Ocean City have had an excellent winter catching big tog.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD Fishing Report
