WGMD Fishing Report 4-11-19

Wednesday was another good fishing day, but we are not getting many good reports.

According to Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina the Katydid was out on Tuesday.  They had lots of short tog with only a few keepers.  The Fish Bound out of Ocean City did have 19 keeper tog and released 23 including some big females.

Clark at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle told us the first blues of the spring surf fishing season were caught over the weekend.  These were in the 10 to 12-inch range.  Now if their 10 to 12-pound cousins would follow them to the beach it would really get 2019 off to a great start.

On Tuesday evening I attended the meeting of the Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing Funding held in Dover.  Among projects that will be completed in 2019 are the new boat ramp at Millsboro Pond and the all new parking lot and boat ramps at Phillips Landing.  A fishing pier in Dobbinsville is in the early stage and engineering plans should be ready by fall.
