WGMD Fishing Report 4-12-18

Wednesday was another nice, but cool day.  The rest of the week and into the weekend will be at best unsettled with high winds and waves.

Maryland submitted another set of emergency regulations to help reduce the catch and release mortality of striped bass.  If approved beginning on May 16 and running until December 15 the minimum size for rockfish will drop from 20 to 19 inches.  In addition, circle hooks would be required when chumming or live lining.  The proposal is now before the legislative committee and should be approved by mid-April.

I spoke with Jerry Taylor at Taylored Tackle who told me a few nice rockfish have been caught and released from the Nanticoke River.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina told me the Katydid tried for tog again on Wednesday, but came up empty.  They had some shorts, but no keepers.  With a 43.5 water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy tog fishing along with everything else is going to be slow.  East winds and warm air temperatures will help.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
