WGMD Fishing Report 4-21-19

Saturday was Opening Day for Trophy Rockfish on the Main Stem of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.  If Opening Day went as bad as the days leading up to it the results were not very good.  Chris Dollar of CD Kayaks on Kent Island fished all day Thursday with a friend.  They trolled from Rock Hall to the Choptank River and never had a knockdown.

Lenny Rudow in his Fish Talk reported similar results up and down the bay.  Add to this a strong cold front with high winds, heavy rain and falling temperatures on Friday night into Saturday morning and I don’t think many trophies over 38 inches were caught.

Jerry at Taylored Tackle in Seaford said blue catfish and snakeheads are still available from the Nanticoke River.  Jerry said he ate one of the snakeheads and pronounced it delicious.  Crappie continue to be taken from the spillway at Seaford.

The flounder fishing out of Wachapreague and Quimby Virginia continues to improve.  Fish to five pounds were taken last week in spite of the less than perfect weather.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
