WGMD Fishing Report 4-23-18

Sunday saw more good weather and more fish were caught.  The water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy was 48.2 and it was 51.8 at Lewes.

Those of you who were planning to fish the Chesapeake Bay for the Maryland Trophy Rockfish season, I am sorry to report that opening day on Saturday was pretty much a bust.  Very few rockfish were caught by the thousands of boats pulling a multitude of lures.  Perhaps the majority of rockfish are still up the spawning rivers.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid brought in 17 tog with one citation.  She had no reports from any other boat.

At the fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park, Lighthouse View Tackle said they did not see any more flounder, or anything else, caught on Sunday.

At Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em the report was the Captain Bob returned with some tog. They also heard of some short tog and the rare keeper caught from the inlet on shrimp. Short rockfish have been caught on white bucktails with a white worm.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
