WGMD Fishing Report 4-23-19

Tuesday was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and light winds.  The rest of the week looks pretty good except for some showers on Friday.

Over in the Chesapeake Bay the Rockfish Trophy Season is getting off to a slow start.  The few boats that are catching fish over 35 inches are finding only one or two a day.  This seems to support the latest stock assessment that found the breeding stock biomass at a very low level.

The Fish Bound out of Ocean City, Maryland had a boat limit of tog on Monday.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid had two six-pound tog on Monday.  John G had a 6.6 and Danny had a tog that tipped the scales at 6.3 pounds.  The boat had just pulled in when I called on Tuesday, but Tommy said they had tog over 10 pounds.

Lewes Ice House checked in a keeper flounder caught by Bill Mister out of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal.

The boat ramp and fishing pier at Little Creek was officially opened on Tuesday.
