WGMD Fishing Report 4-30-19

Monday did not work out for boaters, but folks fishing from shore did catch a few.  Tuesday is supposed to see 80 degrees with southwest winds, just what old people need to get out of the house.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said Steven Warren was fishing from the Lewes Town Dock when he connected with a 2.67-pound flounder on Gulp!.  He also caught and released several short rockfish.

Dan’s Tackle Box reported one of their customers used his grandfather’s Mitchell spinning outfit to catch and release a 50-pound black drum in the surf.  Sorta made me feel old since I remember when Mitchell was the top of the line in fishing tackle.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle told us the shad run at Indian River Inlet is underway.  The best action has been during incoming water and the hickories are large.  Use shad darts or small spoons and look for diving birds.  The shad, with a few small blues, will be under the birds.  The bag limit for hickory shad is 10 fish per day.  American shad and river herring are closed.
