WGMD Fishing Report 4-6-18

rob-carson

Thursday was sunny, but windy and cold.  I spent the day doing yard work so if and when the weather and the fishing improve I will have that chore out of the way.

The weekend does not look too promising.  Saturday will not be fit for man or beast with rain, snow and wind.  On Sunday we lose the rain and snow, but keep the wind.  Freshwater fishing will be pretty much the only game in town.  On Saturday I am certain there will be plenty of diehard anglers lining the trout streams in New Castle County.  I will not be one of them.

On Sunday there should be a few trout left and the weather will be much better.  Fishing should also be productive in the mill ponds and spillways throughout the state.  The last report I had came from Millsboro Pond where a few pickerel were caught on live minnows.  I suspect minnows will be the top bait pretty much anywhere you choose to fish.

The water temperature in the ocean remains at 43 degrees so it will be awhile before we see flounder or bluefish.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
