Capt. Roger Meekins took the Capt. Bob II out for the final day of tog fishing. They fished with green crabs and shrimp and had a great day. Some came back with limits while most came back with some dinner. Picture are Ben Jacobs and Jeff Waxman of Bethany Beach, DE, Chris Hong, Kim Richard, Ji Youn, Soo Kim, Lee Lee of Annondale, VA.

Monday was a fair fishing day, but only a few folks gave it a try.  Tuesday will see the opening of the black sea bass season and I expect to hear of limit catches all around.

I ran into Ron Smith at WAWA this morning and he reported catching a 29-inch rockfish out of Canary Creek on a fly.  Ron is a member of the Delaware Saltwater Fly Fishing Club.

At Dan’s Tackle they checked in several nice black drum caught on clams from Broadkill Beach over the weekend.  A five-pound trout was taken from the Broadkill River.  The pier saw more big blues in the morning.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle sent me the results of their Spring Surf Fishing Tournament.  In the open Division Kelsey Cycyck came in first with 70 points.  Alison Grove was the winner of the Women’s Division with 40 points.  Logan Wierzbicki took the top place in the Kid’s Division with 12 points.  A 27-inch bluefish caught by Fred Smith took the largest fish and largest bluefish prizes for a total of $3,500.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
