WGMD Fishing Report 5-2-19

I had planned to fish the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal on Wednesday morning, but when I went out side to hook up my electronics it was freezing cold with a strong wind coming right off the water.  At that point I made an executive decision, called my friend Mike Pizzolato and postponed the trip until Thursday.

Later in the day I called Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina who told me Brian Clark and Jamie Killeen fished the Canal using minnows and shiners on Nick Rigs to catch seven flounder between 17 and 21 inches during outgoing water.  My only saving grace is both of these guys are much younger than Mike or me.

Dan’s Tackle Box continues to give me reports of black drum caught from Broadkill Beach.  Tonya had two on Tuesday evening.  Blaine and Samantha Burrier had a 20 pounder also on Tuesday.

Big blues are also being caught.  The Surface Tension with Captain Keith Beebe had several on Tuesday.  Silvara Davis caught three big blues from the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park on Saturday night.
