Capt. Dave Collins had a charter on opening day of black sea bass and took his boat the Capt. Ike II out to the Dry Docks. While using clams and squid he wound up with a boat limit that weighed in at 142lbs. Pictured are Matt Merrick, JC Dennis, Ryan Harris and Buddy Patton, not pictured are Greg Sizemore and Bruce Vincent all from Georgetown, DE.

Tuesday saw fishable weather and fish were caught from boats and shore.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said they saw flounder and bluefish caught from a boat fishing close to the pier at Cape Henlopen State Park.  The angler had two keeper flounder and some blues in the 20 to 24-inch class.  He also released several short flounder.  The Katydid had a good catch of sea bass over ocean structure.

At Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park the report was smaller blues caught on bait and metal.  The choppers took the day off.

Dianna at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us a few boats ran to the Del-Jersey-Land Reef and returned with good-sized sea bass.

After a successful trip on Monday I returned to Herring Point Tuesday afternoon during the incommoding tide.  The water was clean and I thought I was going to do well.  I didn’t.  My offerings of fresh bunker chunks and aged surf clams did not attract a single fish.  The few other anglers I saw didn’t have any luck either.  And so it goes.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
