WGMD Fishing Report 5-24-19

Thursday saw warmer temperatures, but the wind stayed up.  It looks like it will still be up on Friday, but switch to the northwest.  Small craft advisories are up for Friday morning.

The Katydid out of Anglers Marina went after sea bass, but found the conditions pretty rough.  They did put together a nice catch of fish to three pounds.  Captain Monty Hawkins on the Morning Star out of Ocean City also ran for sea bass.  He said the run out wasn’t too bad, but conditions worsened as the day went on so he came in early with high hook having only eight fish.  He did give everyone on board a 50% discount on their next trip.  Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us the head boats are also encountering rough seas and poor fishing but are hopeful for better action over the holiday weekend.

Old Inlet reported blues in the three to four-pound class caught on metal during incoming current on Thursday.

The fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park told us a few blues and flounder were caught on Thursday, but a south wind tends to dirty the water.
