WGMD Fishing Report 5-3-19

Mike Pizzolatto and I finally fished the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal on Thursday morning under ideal conditions.  We began our drift at the Railroad Bridge in Lewes and continued all the way down to Roosevelt Inlet.  Then we picked up and ran to the Duck Blind on the Broadkill River and drifted back down to the No Wake Zone.  We never had a bite on live minnows or Gulp!.  Others did much better.  As we were pulling out of the tie-down area the guy in front us was cleaning a flounder on the back of his boat.  I hate a smart ass.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina told us Ricky Mills had two keepers measuring 17 and 21 inches plus several shorts on minnows and shiners.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle the report was big shad at the Inlet on darts and metal.  Blues have been caught from the surf with the area at the South Pocket down to Three Rs particularly productive on mullet and metal.

Rick’s Bait and Tackle said one customer pulled a four-pound flounder out of Massey’s Ditch.
